Show Me Your Ways, O Lord

“Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.” Psalm 25:4-5

Oh, to be instructed and led by the living God! This is a desire that the lost cringe away from and the redeemed crave and long for. As we walk day by day in covenant relationship with our Lord, we recognize more and more of the difference between His ways and our ways (Isaiah 55:8). As the light of His Word shines in our hearts and minds, we better understand that our ways need to be abandoned and left behind. There is great need and desire for us to be walking in His ways. Yet, we know they are foreign to us. We need Him to show, teach, and lead us in them, and so like David, we call out for His help. We cry out to Jesus, our Savior and Good Shepherd, the One in whom we have true and complete salvation. It is on Him that we wait. We wait, not with anxious apprehension, but with joyful anticipation, trusting His promises, looking forward to His guidance.
