Love the Lord Your God

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” ~ Deuteronomy 6:4-7

As God’s children, we are to love Him with our whole hearts, our entire being. There’s no part of us that is allowed to take a break, or otherwise rotate off its involvement in our love for Him. Further, our all wise God has put His law in our minds and has written it on our hearts (Jeremiah 31:33). This is not solely for our personal benefit. We are also to teach it to others, namely our children. Note the diligence we should have. It’s not every now and then, but each day should be a day for learning as we teach them the Word and ways of the Lord. Notice also the multi-generational impact Moses speaks of! Instruction, training, application, and living by example are things that should be part of the foundation of the culture and daily practice of our homes such that, along with their growth, our children learn to pass what they’ve be taught to the next generation. Praise God for His Word!
